Scott was introduced to winemaking by a family friend that made wine in his Salt Lake City basement. His father was also an avid collector and student of wines from Burgundy (primarily Pinot Noir & Chardonnay). Scott soon found he was simply destined for the vine. He initially thought he would become a veterinarian, but ended up graduating with a degree in Landscape Architecture & Environmental Design from UC Davis. After several years in the field he noticed something bigger missing from his life, joy and passion that only wine and the journey of creating it provides. He returned to his alma mater, graduating again with a degree in Viticulture & Enology. Scott has worked at many esteemed wineries including Etude, Moraga, and Talisman. He knows and loves Pinot Noir. Together, our team has the perfect match of passion & knowhow.
“The goal in winemaking is to be true to the origins of the grapes,” says Scott. “Pinot Noir is very sensitive to, and expressive of, where it is grown, and exploring the differences within that realm fascinates and drives me. We want to accurately reflect the places our grapes come from by letting them speak for themselves through a low intervention style of winemaking. If you start with great fruit, you have the opportunity to make great wine.”
